Wait... |
| |
Yes. it's about as unprofessional as you can get,
but these companies normally take around 2 weeks
to get back to you. Welcome to the upside-down world
of Yellow Page Advertising. |
| 3. |
Meet with Your Yellow Pages Rep |
| |
Once you finally get that call from your local
Yellow Page advertising sales rep, you will want
to prepare yourself for their undying devotion
to selling you the largest ad in your section of
the book.
How big does your ad really need to be?
We suggest starting small. A good rule of thumb
is to look at the Yellow Page ad of your closest
competitor. If you can afford an ad larger than
your competitor's Yellow Page ad, you will jump
in front of them in the section. This is good,
but any bigger than that and you're probably wasting
money better spent on another ad in another Yellow
page directory. If you have the money to spend,
multiple directories is the way to go. |
| 4. |
Sign-Up For Your Ad Space |
| |
Once you have an ad size and price you are comfortable
with, your Yellow Page rep will present you with
a contract to sign. This will lock you in to the
size and price you have negotiated. |
| 5. |
Design Your Yellow Page Ad for
Placement |
| |
Your Yellow Pages rep will provide you with
free design services for your Yellow Page ad. Some
directories do a better job than others, so I suggest
you see what they come up with. It's free, so what
the heck. But if they bring you back an ad that
just looks terrible, you're better off contacting
a professional.
You are under no obligation to use the ad the
Yellow Pages directory designs and at a cost
of about 10% of your ad placement, you can get
a great looking, professionally
designed Yellow Page ad that will perform
far better than any ad the directory design department
can dream up.
We've even compiled some have helpful Yellow
Page ad design tips that will turn you into
an advertising pro. Read through them carefully
before critiquing any ad you are considering
placing. |
| 6. |
Get A Final Proof |
| |
Once you settle on a Yellow Page design through
the Yellow Pages directory design department or an
independent Yellow Page design company, your ad will
be submitted to publisher. Be sure to get a final
proof from your Yellow Pages rep so you can see exactly
what the ad will look like once it appears in the
directory. This will also protect you should a mistake
be made by the publisher. |
| 7. |
Find your Yellow Page Ad in the
Printed Directory! |
| |
Once the process is complete you'll be anxiously
waiting for the new directories to hit the street.
Many supermarkets and postal stores carry the big
directories, so you can grab a copy to compare
with the final proof you received.
If there aren't any errors just sit back and
let the calls roll in. If you have a problem,
contact your Yellow Page Rep immediately. Most
are happy to negotiate a solution by discounting
the original ad price or making it up to you
with a bigger ad next year.
That's it! Happy Yellow Pages Advertising! |
